Join CareerACCESS at NCIL’s 2015 Annual Conference on Independent Living’s Legislative & Advocacy Workshop Session:
“Reforming Social Security’s Definition of Disability”
Now is the time to change SSA’s definition of disability. Now is the time to eliminate work disincentives caused by the archaic defining of disability as the inability to work. Now is the time to enable young adults with disabilities to pursue the American Dream without fear of losing benefits. A coalition of agencies and individuals has been offering proposals as to how to do this. The workshop at the 2015 Annual Conference on Independent Living will present a high level overview of current reform proposals in the works, including CareerACCESS focusing on SSI for young adults with disabilities, and a proposal to change SSDI’s definition of disability. Participants will learn how consumer-directed advocacy has changed public policy outcomes and what they can do to move this reform forward.
The workshop will be held on 7/27/2015, from 1:00pm-2:15pm at the Grand Hyatt Ballroom, Washington D.C.
